April Business Recap: 100% Location-Independent

April Recap.png

Hello again, dear readers!

Wow, so I've just returned from a whirlwind 10 days wandering around the beautiful little country of Croatia. Highly, highly recommend a visit if you haven't been before. I know it's been on my bucket list for quite some time now, so I'm happy to report that 'Croatia Road Trip' has been checked off the list with a positive flourish

As this year continues to zoom by, I hereby present to you what sweet little April had in store for me.

I took a little hiatus from B-School for my Croatia trip, but I'm planning on finishing up all of my modules within the next couple of days. Still so, so happy for this experience as it really helped me gain some major clarity in terms of figuring out who my ideal client is (yes, it very well could be you, sweet reader!) and how I can personally conduct my best business online. It also downright inspired me to connect with so many other people in the same boat as I am when it comes to making real moves with their businesses, ranging in stages from both budding to fully blossomed.

One of the foundational processes for B-School was completing a brief course called the Follow-Through Formula, which basically laid out how best to make process by keeping ourselves accountable to those little items that create our business momentum. For now, I just have to make a major list of to-do's and continue to check them off one-by-one (i.e. getting back into my blog batch routine after my vacation, creating some new portfolio files of recent design projects, and getting myself prepared for my next exciting client project starting next week!)

Official End of Teaching English in a French High School

Or rather, time to pop that bottle of nice champagne I received from my colleagues as a birthday gift in November! You guys. I am finished with teaching English in France. The thing is, while I'm so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to live and work in France legally while I finished laying my foundations to stay here full-time (read: building amazing connections and friendships, falling in love with a wonderful Frenchman, watching in suspense with my popcorn as my crazy life unfolds in magical ways, etc), I am by no means someone who is comfortable up in front of a group of people (or teenagers, more specifically) to lead a lesson or discussion. While I did it, yes, no problem for the last two years, I was never ever able to shake the anxious feeling in my bones every minute I was thinking about my next class period.

Thanks to this experience, I've truly discovered that I work at my absolute best when I'm focused independently on an interesting project (really no surprise that I've turned to running an online business!). I'm so happy to wake up in the morning and not have to count the days until the weekend. Instead, each day now feels amazing and as though I'm right where I need to be. It's amazing, fam!

Landed Myself a Dream Remote Job

So here's some news! I actually landed my dream remote job with a wonderful start-up that sends cheap flight deals to its V hefty subscriber list. Basically, a traveler/cheap flight aficionado's dream. At the moment, I'm working with the customer advocacy team, but there are so many other aspects of the company that I'm looking forward to helping out with *raises hand for graphic design assignments!*

And so what will this mean for Alex Morton Creative? Basically, all good things because I don't like treating my passion (read: website design) as the be-all and end-all of my financial livelihood. If I'm not stressed out about where my next few projects are coming from, I'm better able to serve my clients to my best creative ability. This also allows me to truly pick and choose which clients I take on to make sure both parties feel aligned AF so that we have the most magical collaborations ever.

Anyway, with this, my remote work/work-from-home/work-from-anywhere/location-independent dream is coming to blazing, fiery life - and I couldn't be happier about it. It's all coming back to changing my mindset, connecting with the universe, and being all the way open to these amazing opportunities. (For help with this, see my mindset shift process here!)

Remote Work Alex Morton Creative

Okay, friends! That's about it for my April Recap. Keep an eye out for May's because I can already tell it's gonna be quite the doozy! And if you wanna get to workin' now on your dream Squarespace website, hop over here to get in touch.

Stay cool, stay creative -
