Summer Business Recap: Launches & Pura Vida
Hello, hello friends!
I’m writing you now from beautiful Santa Teresa, Costa Rica - where I’ve run away for a sort of end-of-summer celebration, so to speak!
In the glorious past couple of weeks, I’ve said sayonara (or better yet, adios) to work of all forms and have been blissed out on sun, sand, and sleep (well - rest is more like it, but I had to carry on with the alliteration. Probably why I initially opted for sayonara).
I wanted to do a little summer recap because I didn’t get the chance to fill you all in on the goings on of my projects over the last two months (July and August). So here goes nothin’ (or somethin’ if I were to continue on with those silly S-words)!
Client projects - yay!
Artful Career Academy and Get to the Art (both housed under the wonderful Kristina Solheim - an art-career coach who helps artists gain the necessary skills to sustain their lives financially from their craft).
These two sites and brands were my summer’s bread and butter. Stay tuned for more in-depth case studies on each! They’re quite fun!
Money mindset reading
Finished up The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness by Bari Tessler as a follow up to Amanda Steinberg’s Worth It. Interesting stuff, and I always love reading about personal finance both in practice and as it pertains to our mindsets around it!
Headed back to California
Queue all California homecoming songs including but not limited to:
California, here I come / Right back where I started from (Phantom Planet)
I’m goin’ - goin’ back - back to Cali - Cali (Biggie)
And I’ll miss youuuu / I’m goin’ back home to the West Coast… (Coconut Records)
This was/is a long stay back home due to good ol’ visa regulations - meaning I have to stay away from my beloved country (and one of its finest countrymen) for 90 days. Thankfully though, said countryman came to join me across the world in wonderful Costa Rica, which I’ll get to later!
Serendipitously stumbled upon a classic personal finance book while working at a favorite cafe with a favorite friend: The Millionaire Next Door, so that’s been a great read lately as well!
As difficult as being away from France is, I feel so happy to have the time to spend with my family and friends without it seeming too rushed or draining from needing to see every single person in a limited amount of time. Oh, and I get to spend my days working from my mom’s house with a wonderful new best friend in the form of the sweetest mini-Australian shepherd named Koda - though I call her Kody, Kobe, or Kodinsky. Why? It just works.
Costa Rica - pura vida livin’
Then, at the tail end of August, I set off with my family for a week-long adventure in Costa Rica for a family reunion centered around my uncle’s 60th birthday. We spent some time in San José before shuttling everyone down to a beautiful rental house near the beach (Playa Langosta/Tamarindo) where I serendipitously stumbled upon a book someone had told me about just a month earlier. The book is called Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispensa, and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! So grateful to the Universe for that one ;)
Oh, for your viewing pleasure, my uncle lives here in Costa Rica - in the more Pinterest-worthy, maximalism dream house imaginable (yes, the shih tzu’s included):
Welp. consider me inspired beyond all belief (plus more and more coming in heavy swells each and every day!)

Scandalous? Maybe. Worth it? Totally.
Possibly the most worthwhile decision of your life (thus far).
